HOW IT ALL STARTED
The UEL Mooting society was founded in 2007 by students Justin Pierce and Agnes Lee with tireless support from the Law School and faculty. The society has gone from strength to strength with continued support from the faculty and students. The society was established as a platform to introduce students to the art of advocacy, legal argument and public speaking.
It has grown from a handful of students to playing an important role in bringing students together and helping budding advocates obtain the skills they will need to be successful in the highly competitive world of law! The society has sought to nurture a strong culture of legal thought and competence amongst present and future students by organising advocacy workshops, legal skills talks and a personal mentoring service.
The society has also received great support from the professional sector including leading law firms, senior government barristers, solicitors and independent solicitor advocates.
