UEL Mooting 2009

The 2009 UEL Moot competition got underway on Thursday 6th May. The event was kindly supported by Stratford Magistrates Court. Students from all years attended to watch and to compete in the first rounds of the competition. The judges took up position in the four court rooms and prepared to listen to argument from the mooter's.

This year’s judges were District Judge Wayne, Godwin A.Gyamfi (Crown Prosecution Services), Lynne Townley (Crown Prosecution Services) and Justin Pierce (President Inner Temple Mooting Society).

The students demonstrated an extremely high standard of legal argument and advocacy, receiving praise from all the judges. District Judge Wayne was especially impressed with the level of preparation, standard of legal argument and the advocacy to deliver the argument persuasively.

The mooting society would like to congratulate all those students who took part. We would also like to thank the judges who gave up their time to judge. Special thanks go to George Laurencin for all the hard work in organising the competition.
